D.J. Whitney is an author, screenwriter, musician, filmmaker, and actor who resides in Connecticut. He spent several years writing a wide array of screenplays. A few still in the works and some over time reviewed by Hollywood studios. His stories, concepts, and dialogue were always well-received but the critiques were dependent on who read the scripts. Each review motivates and inspires him to keep writing, learning, and strengthening characters, words, and ideas.
Presently in his creative journey, he is driven to writing novels. His weaving of poignant life lessons and pieces of authentic characters he has met along the road not only is evident throughout his stories, but also creates inspirational characters and relatable stories.
He is elated, to say the least, to be included in Imagining Monsters with an excerpt from his novel “Hairwolf.”

Imagining Monsters: A Collection of Short Stories Inspired by Frankenstein
"Furry Little Things on a Full Moon Night" - A young girl creates an imaginary creature
that turns out to be not so imaginary... and not so harmless.
Aside from Frankenstein, where did you draw inspiration for your story?
My love of fiction. I was conversing with a girl from Germany, whom I later started dating. During those early conversations, she'd speak of long walks on the beach, but I should beware due to her transformation on a full moon night. We joked about how funny that would be... two people meeting, one a werewolf, one not, and having it happen on a full moon night.
All the proceeds from Imagining Monsters anthology sales are going to the WestportWRITES program at the Westport Library, which is a true haven for local writers in Fairfield County, Connecticut. As a writer, where is your haven - where do you write, and what do you need to help you write?
Coffee, smokes, peace and quiet other than Basia in the background.
What's next on the horizon for you?
More writing for sure, but the publishing of Hairwolf and then seeing it picked up for a movie.
